Alhama

Alhama, a nice bathing resort with a great view on the Sierra Nevada, has old Arabian bathes and a remarkable church, Iglesia Mayor. Close to it there are the impressive water-falls of Los Infiernos.

Built on the edge of a gorge, Alhama was an interesting visit. Unfortunately, many of the attractions were not open.

It was a long climb up mountain roads to the plain that leads to Granada. But once there the abundance of plants and flowers were beautiful. If we saw nothing else, the ride was worth it for that. It was on this plain that much of the fighting between the Christians and Moors took place.

The church in this picture was where many of the "inquisitions" were held. We couldn't get the Spanish Guides to talk about that much.

While the trip was a bust for the sites we expected to see, taking everything into consideration it was worth it.
