I thoroughly enjoy your newsletter! I have a question regarding a
"locked file" on a Zip disk. How do I get this file to become
"unlocked" so I can open the document, make revisions and print
out hard copies?This file worked fine until I was cleaning out unused
files/documents from my Zip disk and hard drive. Now everytime I
try to open this document which is in Publisher 2000, a window
pops up saying that "the file is locked because another user is
using Publisher". But I'm the only person using Publisher
(no networks here).Is there anything that will correct my problem with this file?
Someone said it might be corrupted, but I sure don't know how
that could've happened or why. Thanks for your help!Nancy

Nancy, lets try a couple of things:
1. Open Windows Explorer, go to View...Options, and make sure
that Show All Files is checked, and Hide File Extensions for
Known File Types is NOT checked.2. Get out of all your programs you are running, go to your TEMP
directory and clean it out (it will be at C:\TEMP or
C:\WINDOWS\TEMP or similar). Make sure to get rid of all your
.tmp files, and all files that begin with ~ in the name.3. Look at the directory on the Zip disk, and make sure there are
no .tmp files or files that being with ~ in the name.What this will do is enable you to clean out all the temporary
files that may be associated with this file, and maybe kick start
it again. If it doesn't come up after that, see if you can copy
it from somebody else's ZIP drive onto his computer.If it doesn't work after copying it from another ZIP drive, then
you probably do have a corrupt file. Any number of things can
cause a corruption like that, and I'm not sure what to tell you
then. If you have any programs that will import publisher files
(I don't know of any), you might try to import it (may get you
part of it), but most likely you may be out of luck.Ed Roden

Three Charged With Fraud In Art Auctions On Ebay
Three men working in conjunction to bid up prices on fraudulent
pieces of art on eBay have been indicted on 16 counts of wire and
mail fraud. The trio allegedly worked together to scam art buyers
out of more than $450,000 using fictitious e-mails, online names,
and stories.EBay has been attacked by critics who say that the auction site
does not do enough to prevent fraud on its site, which has
doubled the number of registered users it had just over a year
ago. The FTC's Claudia Bourne Farrell said the agency had
received 11,000 auction fraud complaints in 2000, or eight
percent of its total consumer complaints. EBay said that it has
stepped up efforts to police its sites, but it maintained that
total security is not possible.One California art dealer who uses eBay extensively said ring
bidding on the site has dropped off recently, adding that the
authenticity of eBay auctions is in the best state he has ever
observed. EBay said the indictment against the three men sent a
clear warning that Internet auction fraud has serious
consequences.

Hi Kim,
With many programs, you can move your cursor over an object on
the screen, and if you pause, a little yellow box appears with a
brief explanation about the object or some other nugget of
information. For example, if a cursor rests over the time clock
numbers on Window's START bar, the box pops up telling you the
day and date. Pause over Window's START button and you read
"Click here to begin".How can a person incorporate this idea into a web page? Would it

already there, it's just a matter of tailoring it to your needs.Visit any web page. Hold your cursor over any graphic. A box will
pop up. If the designer hasn't used the "ALT" tag in their HTML,
then the name of the graphic will show up, such as 'graphic.gif.'BUT, if you use the ALT tag, you can have anything you choose
show up. Simply add this tag within the brackets of your IMG SRC
