OK – I have not published for awhile. Why, you might ask would Bob stop publishing his “Tip of the Day” which has been, for the most part, published non-stop ever since July of 1998?
If you think about it, you might share my cause for concern. I have been reading about the national health care plan as proposed by Obama and friends. Now, I do think there is an argument that the cost of health care is out of control. That is not the immediate concern however. The real concern is how we are going to pay for the plan to try to solve it. That’s a “no-brainer” folks, and it ain’t gonna be free.
Obama says it will not further impact our national debt – BS. He has to get the money from someplace. Two places I constantly hear mentioned are the reduction of Medicare Benefits, and forcing small businesses to insure all who work there. In other words, screw the old people who have already paid their dues, and don’t give them care because they’re too old and are not worth the expense.
Oh, and anyone with the guts to run their own business, we’ll get you as well. In the end, it appears that they want everyone working for the government. This has happened to many countries in the past, and it has led to their downfall. Personally, I love this Country too much to quietly sit by and let this happen.
Medicare will most likely take the first hit, and we will have fewer benefits at a higher out of pocket cost. Some people are not even aware that Medicare is directly deducted from the amount of Social Security they receive. Small businesses will also most likely be hit, and be forced to pay into this plan. The States will, in all probability, be pressured into replacing the health plan they currently provide their employees for this one.
So why haven’t I been publishing? I have been trying to see if there was an actual plan to pay for it. If I have to pay additionally for health insurance that I already have, because I have a small business - sayonara. It just won’t be worth it, and maybe we’ll get in line with the others who won’t be paying anything anyway.
How can anyone in their right mind, put forth a plan with no details on how it is going to work, and no idea of its actual cost? Maybe Obama and friends should realize they have won the election, stop campaigning, and get down to the business of running our Country.
How about the elected congressional Representatives of the House, and the Senators who can retire after just one term, and receive their salary for life, including the best healthcare plan available in the world? Think about it, one hundred senators, 435 Congressmen, one president and 9 Supreme Court Justices, will they give up their plan in favor of the one Obama and friends want to foist on us? Oh yeh, and Joe Biden is going to say something intelligent and jump on it as well.
We all know the story about Robin Hood, stealing from the rich to help the poor. Obama has propounded this concept to death. If he continues on his current course of action, there will be no more rich, except for our elected officials. Isn’t this really a case of the rich stealing from the poor? Ever met a homeless member of Congress?
Frankly folks, I’m scared out of my wits. When our elected representatives, regardless of party affiliation, vote either for or against a thousand plus page document which they haven’t even read, it is time for them to go. It is also time to stop giving these incompetents a life time salary including all the benefits even if they only serve even one term.
It is time to enact strict term limits on these guys. Ted Kennedy has been a Senator from Massachusetts since 1962 – you got it 1962. Think about it – that’s 47 years of opportunity for graft, waste and corruption. His term is exceeded only by Robert Byrd from West Virginia, who has been a Senator since January 3, 1957. Give us a break. Also from Massachusetts, Barney Frank has been in Congress since 1981. What a pair. It appears that the Ted Kennedy, who drove his car off a bridge on Chappaquiddick Island in 1969, drowning his passenger, a young campaign worker named Mary Jo Kopechne, and left the scene of the accident, was immune from prosecution. It was reported by the Washington Times that Congressman Barney Frank actually operated a gay prostitution business out of his house while serving in Congress. Gee – I thought you went to jail for doing stuff like that. I'm relatively sure we would.
What caused me to stop publishing, for awhile, was because, in my judgement, I was being blackballed by MSN (Microsoft Network) - Microsoft Hotmail, and their partners in information control, because I dared question the actions of the Obama, Pelosi, and Reid Coalition. They wouldn’t even send my private mail to friends who happened to have one of their accounts.
Am I going to go away – maybe in my present format? But I will not be quiet. Our Country is not a giant piggy bank to be raided by all of the people sworn to represent us.
To help pay for this ill conceived health care plan, they are considering taxing the healthcare benefits being currently received by people from their employers. Duh – isn’t that a tax on middle income people on whom Obama promised not to increase their taxes? Larger employers are contemplating elimination of their current employees health benefits and pay the 8% fine. Do the arithmetic. Because of their agreements with the Unions, they are paying a lot more than that for the plans they give their employees now. Seems the companies can say “Screw you Unions,” I’m simply following the law. Oh – and the State Pension Systems – will they also be forced to drop the plans for their retirees, and put them on this plan as well? Is this the kind of "change" promised in the last Election?
We’ll see what happens with this Friday Rant. If it makes it through,
the Tip of the Day Newsletter will resume this Monday. If not, the publication
will be totally redesigned and address some of these current issues that
our Representatives are trying to sweep under the rug.
