Highlight the Entire Document

Many times, you want to highlight an entire document for cutting,
copying, deleting, styling, or whatever.  Starting at the
beginning of the document you can hold down the left mouse button
and drag it to the end.  But with some applications, this can be
a slow process.

You can speed up this process, and select an entire document by
simply holding down the "Ctrl Key" and clicking anywhere in the
left margin.  I use this all the time when cutting and pasting
these "Tips" for archival purposes on our Web Page.

Hello,

I read your information on Aureate mail. Apparently I
accidentally deleted your tip on how to load the group addresses
into the software. Do I need to get several different email
addresses to use this ?

Thanks for your help.

Larry Wright - Caeser3635@aol.com

-----

Larry - Aureate, which allows you to send out bulk email, can
support multiple files, and you only need one email address for
this.  I have five files set up under the one account.  You can
set up any number of files.

Addresses can be set up either by loading them from an existing
file, or from your Clipboard.  I normally get 5 or 6 new
subscriptions every day for our "Tip of the Week" Newsletter and
save these in a file.  Once a week, just before publication, I
highlight all the addresses, copy them to the Clipboard and
upload them to the file.

BTW - all back "Tips" are archived at our web site at:

Update on AOL Version 5.0 problems - I have personally seen
problems making it difficult for someone to access other
providers because of this software. I would recommend that if you
have version 4.0 running without problem, that you do not install
version 5.0 of this software until these bugs are ironed out.  In
my judgement, the enhancements of version 5.0 do not warrant the
potential problems this may cause.

                   Today's Highlight in History

On this date in 1976 U.S. officials confirmed that microwave
radiation was trained by the Soviets against the American embassy
in Moscow, likely causing an increase of cancer among the embassy
personnel, reproductive problems that may have resulted in birth
defects, and possible psychological disorders. It is believed
that at least two U.S. ambassadors were killed as a direct result
of the radiation attacks.

The Soviet's use of microwave radiation against the embassy began
sometime in the 1950s, initially it is suspected, as part of a
program to cause disoriented behavior, nerve disorders, or even
heart attacks among the embassy personnel. In the early 1960s,
U.S. intelligence became aware of the Soviet's use of offensive
radiation and U.S. President John F. Kennedy responded by
authorizing "Operation Pandora," a top secret research program
into the anti-personnel possibilities of non-ionizing micro wave
radiation.

Because of supposed national security issues, U.S. workers at the
Moscow embassy were not informed of their continuous exposure to
the dangerous radiation until 1976, when suspicions of the KGB's
use of the invisible weapon was publicly confirmed by U.S.
intelligence officials. Although Soviet officials initially
denied the attacks, they later contended that the emissions had
been employed in an attempt to incapacitate American surveillance
devices, not as an anti-personnel weapon.

AOL Rivals File Suit over Alleged Glitch

The fallout related to alleged bugs in AOL's version 5.0 software
is increasing.  CapuNet, Digizen, and Millkern Communications,
three small ISPs based in metropolitan Washington, D.C., filed a
class-action lawsuit on behalf of 6,000 U.S. ISPs against AOL on
Friday.

The lawsuit contends that setting version 5.0 as the default
browser alters computers' settings, making it difficult for
customers to access providers with other browsers.  The lawsuit
is in addition to customer lawsuits recently filed in Virginia
and California.

Just last week, Prodigy informed AOL that it would like to be
compensated for helping customers who could not access their
Prodigy accounts because of difficulties associated with the AOL
bugs.  The lawsuits should have little effect on AOL's stock
price, according to Sands Brothers & Co.  analyst David Zale.
The lawsuits have no merit, said Barry Schuler, president of
AOL's interactive services.

How To Lie To The Bathroom Scale
---------------------------------

 1. Weigh yourself with clothes on, after dinner... as well as in
the morning, without clothes, before breakfast, because it's
nice to see how much weight you've lost overnight.
 2. Never weigh yourself with wet hair.
 3. When weighing, remove everything, including glasses. In this
case, blurred vision is an asset. Don't forget the earrings,
these things can weigh at least a pound.
 4. Use cheap scales only, never the medical kind, because they
are always five pounds off...to your advantage.
 5. Always go to the bathroom first.
 6. Stand with arms raised, making pressure on the scale lighter.
 7. Don't eat or drink in the morning until AFTER you've weighed
    in, completely naked, of course.
 8. Weigh yourself after a haircut, this is good for at least
half a pound of hair (hopefully).
 9. Exhale with all your might BEFORE stepping onto the scale
(air has to weigh something, right?).
 10. Start out with just one foot on the scale, then holding onto
the towel rack in front of you, slowly edge your other foot
on and slowly let off of the rack. Admittedly, this takes
time, but it's worth it. You will weigh at least two pounds
less than if you'd stepped on normally.

ALONE?  FEEL A HEART ATTACK ENVELOPING?  HELP IS HERE!

This week's feature article may be somewhat small in size, but
what a wallop it will pack!

Have you ever thought or dreamed, or should I say had a nightmare
of being alone, day or night, and the worst possible scenario hit
you smack in the face? Yep, a full blown heart attack. Being with
someone when this terrible attack comes is bad enough. Being
alone? This publisher wouldn't even want to think, dream, or even
have a nightmare of being alone and suffering one of America's
most devastating and climactical closures, a heart attack.

We did some investigating and some research on just how or if one
could actually help themselves stop one, prolong it until you can
get help or what ever. So we did find an article that proves to
be a life-saver.

HOW TO SURVIVE A HEART ATTACK WHEN ALONE

Since many people are alone when they suffer a heart attack, this
article seems to be just what the doctor ordered? Well,
anyway.......

....Without help, the person whose heart stops beating properly
and who begins to feel faint, has only about 10 seconds left
before losing consciousness. However, these victims can help
themselves by coughing repeatedly and very vigorously.

A deep breath should be taken before each cough, and the cough
must be deep and prolonged, as when producing sputum from deep
inside the chest.

In other words one must induce a powerful cough just like you had
something stuck in your throat and out of dire necessity and
scared as all heck, were forced to cough for you life. Remember?
We've all faced that one time or another. But of course when you
do have something caught in your throat, or had swallowed food
and it went down wrong, the key there is to fight off the fear
of choking to death by remaining a calm as you can be.  Then if
you force yourself to remain calm, you will allow your wind pipe
and the food that went down the wrong way to slowly open back up.
This valve is really a muscle or better known as a sphincter
which opens and closes.

Getting back to the life saving technique of coughing, a breath
and a cough must be repeated about every TWO SECONDS without
letup until help arrives, or until the heart is felt to be
beating normally again.

Deep breaths get oxygen into the lungs and coughing movements
squeeze the heart and keep the blood circulating. The squeezing
pressure on the heart also helps it regain normal rhythm. In this
way, heart attack victims can get to a phone and, between
breaths, call for help.

Tell as many other people as possible about this, it could save
their lives!

This article was found in the World health Institute and from
several hospitals in San Diego, Ca. and also in New York State.
You can check with your doctor and see if he is aware of this
method.

Have a prosperous and healthy week every one,

Paul
