Taco Pizza Dip
This is a great appetizer for any occasion.
I make it every time
I have my family or friends over for dinner.
They absolutely love
it, and it is always the hit of the night. If
you decide to
cut this recipe in half, it can easily be done,
however, be
forewarned, the one time I did, my guests were
a bit upset about
it.
Ingredients:
2 - 8 oz. packages of cream cheese
2 - 16 oz. jars of hot or medium salsa
2 - large green peppers (chopped)
2 - large tomatoes (seeded and chopped)
2 - 8oz. bags of shredded cheddar cheese
1 Cup jalapeno peppers (optional)
1 small can of sliced black olives
1 small jar of green olives (sliced)
Directions:
Let cream cheese come to room temperature.
(I usually forget
about so I end up heating on defrost in the microwave
until it is
soft.)
Mix half the salsa with all of the cream cheese,
and mix
thoroughly until very smooth. Spread the mixture
evenly on a
large tray.
Next, spread the remaining salsa evenly over the
cream
cheese/salsa mixture. Sprinkle the chopped green
peppers evenly
over the salsa.
Sprinkle the chopped tomatoes evenly over the peppers.
Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the tomatoes.
Garnish with olives and jalapenos. Sometimes I
sprinkle some
jalapenos and olives before I add the cheddar
cheese to give the
dish additional flavor.
Serve this layered appetizer on a large platter.
I accompany it
with a big basket of tortilla chips for dipping.
